Laying on of Hands
By: Minister E. J. Kolenda
The article this week was going to be “The Way
of Holiness.” This one was not finished in time
for the newsletter since it is an ongoing Bible
Study that we have undertaken here. I will go
ahead and give you the verses in Isaiah that we
are studying and it will become articles in the
future.
We are reading the book of Isaiah and have found
so many amazing and timely Verses that it is
almost unbelievable to read. Suddenly we
are reading about places that we have only just
recently known existed or at least we had no
reason to think about them. Here are the following
Verses.
[Isaiah 33:18; Isaiah 30:25; Isaiah 34:6; Isaiah
35:3; Isaiah 35:6; Isaiah 35:6; Isaiah 35:8]
For your ultimate enjoyment read Isaiah Chapters
33,34,35 and open your mind as the LORD speaks
comforting words to you and me. Plan to be amazed
and excited as you read this.
The Ministry of the Laying on of Hands
What is so important about your hands? Why do the
Scriptures talk so much about the hands? Why did
the writer of Hebrews speak of the
Doctrine of the Laying on of Hands as a primary
doctrine? Yes, this is a Doctrine of the LORD.
Did you know that when GOD was ready to bring the
children of Israel out of Egypt, that He did it
with His Hands? Yes our Heavenly Father does have
hands. [Exodus 13:3]
Did you know that all through Israel's walk in the
wilderness Moses was always using his hands to
minister to the people?
When they fought with the Amalekites, Israel won
because Moses held up his hands.
When they came to the Red Sea, it was by the
outstretching of the hands of Moses that the Sea
Parted. [Exodus 14:16,21]
Again, when they would send the scapegoat into the
wilderness, Aaron first had to lay his hand upon
it and, by this means; the sins of
Israel were placed on the head of the goat.
Later, when Moses appointed Joshua as the leader
of the people, we find that he was full of wisdom
because Moses had laid his hands upon
him.
We find Paul laying his hands upon the heads of
John's disciples in [Acts 19:6] and they received
the Holy Ghost and prophesying.
In [1 Timothy 4:14] we find that Timothy is
admonished to "not neglect the gift that is in him
by the Laying on of the Hands of the
Presbytery."
In [2 Timothy 1:6] Timothy is again put in
remembrance of the gift {ability} that was in him
by the putting on of the Hands of Paul.
These are just some of the incidents in the
Scriptures where the hands are used. Usually it is
in connection with some kind of deliverance,
either spiritual or natural. But why are the hands
used so much in the Scriptures?
[Romans 1:20] says: That the things of the Spirit
are both known and understood by the things that
are seen."[1 Corinthians 4:18]
When you baptize in water hands must be used to
put the person in the water and bring them up
again.
"Now the things that are seen are temporal, but
the things that are not seen are eternal." Let us
look at our hands in the natural. Why are your
hands so important?
It is your hands that ministers continually to the
rest of the body. If your face is dirty, it is
your hands that wash it and make it clean. If you
are hungry, it is your hands that feed you. If you
hurt yourself, it is your hands that minister to
your needs, if you have work to do; it is your
hands that do it.
Even people who have lost their hands find ways to
compensate for them. I have heard of those who use
their mouth or toes to write and do all kinds of
wonders. Even this is still a replacement of the
job of hands.
Now before you write me I know that one part of
the body is no more important than the other
parts. This article is concerning the importance
the hands have in the ministry.
A man in the natural without hands is almost
totally helpless. Just try to live one day with
your hands tied behind your back. You can do
almost nothing. And remember that this is a
picture also of the spiritual side of it, for the
spiritual side cannot be seen only by
the physical. A Spiritual hand tying is an enemy
to the Body of Christ.
If the church is to be strong, it must use the
hands to minister to itself, just as the natural
hands minister to our natural bodies.
That is why the writer of Hebrews spoke of the
Doctrine of the Laying on of hands. It is this
Doctrine that will make the church strong in
the Spirit of the LORD and will also keep the
church well in body and spirit.
When the Bible speaks of the laying on of hands,
it means just that. This is not a symbol but a
reality.
A Point of Contact
I wish to call your attention to the fact that
John's disciples received something when Paul laid
his hands upon them.
Joshua received something when Moses laid his
hands on him. Timothy received something when
hands were laid on him.
Why is this? It is because the hands provide a
point of contact through which the Spirit of GOD
can flow from one person to another.
It is not the person's ability that does it, but
the Holy Spirit’s ability working through the
person. That is why Jesus laid His Hands
on the people and healed them. It was the Spirit
of His Father working through Him, for He Said, "I
of myself can do nothing."[John 14:10; 5:19] Yes we
find JESUS laying His hands on people in the Bible,
also.
Now, what is the natural parallel for this? There
must be one, for the natural teaches us that all
things must balance. The natural and the spiritual
must balance, if we are to have a true picture of
things, as we should.
Now, in the natural, the hands, speaking according
to their cell structure, are the place where the
nerve fibers have their ending. These fibers all
begin in the brain and go through the entire body.
These fibers cross in the head and go down the
arms and end in the hands. For, as you no doubt
know, the brain is in two parts, the right side
and the left side. The nerves from the right side
go down the left hand and the left side goes down
the right hand. Why they cross to a different side
I do not know, but this is a picture of the
natural human hands.
But, if we be in the Spirit and walk after the
Spirit, then, according to the Scriptures, we have
the mind of Christ. [1 Corinthians 2:16]
In [Isaiah 10:27] we read that, "the yoke is
broken because of the anointing." So, during the
time that we are in the Spirit, we have
the mind of Christ, which should be all the time.
Then our hands are the members through which
Christ operates.
This should not seem strange to us, for we are but
earthen vessels through which the Spirit operates.
[2 Corinthians 4:7]
It is not the flesh that I am speaking of, but the
inner Spiritual man. [Ephesians 3:11] But what we
know of the inner spiritual man is what we learn
from the outer or physical man, however, we are
positively identified with this man of the heart
and you can not separate the two but by the
Spirit.
Let the Christ in you loose! Stretch forth your
hand and watch as GOD in you begins to be strong.
Exercise the Spirit Abilities that you may be well
supplied. [Hebrews 5:14] For the GOD that does not
change will do in you what He did in Paul and Moses.
Use your hands for the Glory of
GOD.
"And now, LORD, behold their threatening: and
grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness
they may speak thy word, by Stretching Forth Thine
HAND to heal; and that signs and wonders may be
done by the Name of Thy Holy Child JESUS." [Acts
4:29,30]

SYLVIA’S EMACHINE ETALK
I shuffled along bent kneed down the frozen
food isle. Mental complaint about the pain in
my right shoulder and knees was my companion.
It was torture. If you remember, just a few
weeks ago, I told you how to wait by being
thankful? You know the one where you count
your blessings instead of complaining? Come
on you remember that one?
Just looking at the food on each side I dreaded
reaching for any of it. My shoulder was throbbing.
The body is made so that pain is a warning sign.
That is why the mind will dwell where the pain is
located. This is the reason some of the
alternative methods of pain treatment work so well.
The ultimate goal is to take the mind off pain by
concentrating on something else.
I realized a grocery cart was coming toward me.
When I looked up from my mental anguish there was
a cart wobbling toward me. Pushing the cart was a
woman with no left arm. Hanging from the shoulder
there was only a sleeve. She smiled at me.
Immediately I thought of a quote heard all my
life. “I complained because I had no shoes, until I
met a man who had no feet.”
As that quote went through my mind I thanked the
LORD for it. Did the pain go away? No, it was
still there but it helped when I straightened my
shoulders and knees and quit shuffling and started
walking. That did help the pain as did my
thankfulness. I also prayed for strength for the
lady without an arm.
Many articles come across my computer everyday and
because of the lack of time I am limited to
scanning articles. I read one that said if you are
depressed ask not “why” but “how” are you in this
condition. Then take note of your body and what it
is doing in response.
No doubt it is slumped over and you are shuffling
along. Raise your shoulders up and put your feet
flat then smile at your own self. It works!
The mind is our most powerful weapon in our walk
with the LORD. That is the beginning location of
all good and evil. Let that mind that was in CHRIST
JESUS be in us also. Have a blessed and prosperous
week ahead and give thanks to the LORD for all things.

PROVERBS, POEMS AND/OR FEEL GOODS
Steadfast Heart I've dreamed many dreams
that never came true. I've seen them vanish at
dawn, but I've realized enough of my dreams,
Thank GOD, to make me want to dream on.
I've prayed many prayers when no answer came,
though I waited patient and long, but answers
have come to enough of my prayers to make me
keep praying on.
I've trusted many a friend that failed, and left
me to weep alone, but I've found enough of my
friends true blue to make me keep trusting on.
I've sown many seed that fell by the way for the
birds to feed upon, but I've held enough golden
sheaves in my hands to make me keep sowing on.
and gone many ways without song, but I've sipped
enough nectar from the roses of life to make me
want to live on.
