Intercession
By: Minister Ernest J. Kolenda
[Matthew 5:44] “But I say unto you, love your enemies bless them
that curse you, do good to them that hate you and pray for them
which despitefully use you and persecute you.”
Intercession means to intervene as an attorney of defense, a go
between, or a person who will defend a lawbreaker before the
judge. This person is a moderator who stands between a righteous
GOD and a sinning man. One who is praying the prayer for mercy.
This is making intercession.
Our defense attorney or intercessor is Christ Jesus. He has been
touched with the feeling of our infirmities [Hebrews 4:15].
He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows [Isaiah 53:4]
We have an advocate or go between to the Father in Heaven. This
is why our prayers are in the Name Christ Jesus. When we need
help, He is there. When we fall on our face and call on His
Name, we have an advocate.
Abraham was an intercessor for his nephew Lot in Sodom. He
started with if there is fifty righteous in Sodom would you not
spare that city for the righteous sake. The angels said yes they
would. He then went on to narrow this down. As we know it ended
with only Lot, his wife, and two daughters being brought out of
Sodom. Then the city was destroyed with fire. Lot’s wife looked
back and was turned to a pillar of salt. Yes, Abraham was an
intercessor for the people of Sodom and Gomorrah. Only four were
willing to leave and one could not go without looking back. You
can find this in [Genesis Chapter 18].
GOD also gave Israel a High Priest, Aaron, who made intercession
for the sins of Israel [Exodus 28:1]. On the Day of Atonement
Aaron was given the blood of the sacrifice and he alone went
into the Holy of Holies and sprinkled the blood upon the altar
and the mercy seat. Aaron was the Interceding High Priest for
the nation of Israel.
Aaron stood before his audience, confessed the sins of the
people, and acknowledged they have broken GOD’S Holy Law. After
the blood was applied, too the mercy seat atonement was
completed.
Intercession is a process. The prayer of intercession is not a
one-time fall on your knees when you are in need. This is why
our Communion taken according to the Word of GOD is so
important. This process puts you in a position to intercede for
people. Don’t get mad at your enemies pray for them. In
[Romans 8:34] this is spoken by Paul the Apostle, “Who is he that
comdemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen
again who is even at the right hand of GOD, who also maketh
intercession for us.”
[Hebrews 1:5] our Heavenly Father said, “Thou art my son this
day have I begotten thee. And again, I will be to Him a Father
and He shall be to me a Son.”
Again in [Hebrews 5:5] So also Christ glorified not Himself to
be made an High Priest: But He that said unto Him, thou art my
Son – today have I Begotten Thee. This is said again; in
[Psalms 110:4] Thou art a Priest forever after the Order of Melchisedec.
Yes He makes intercession for us and He is our advocate. Christ
Jesus is our Melchisedec High Priest.
Prayer keeps us going. Don’t be led in prayer but pray and
intercede for the people that need prayer. Call them by name if
possible before the LORD. Many think they can’t pray unless they
are in church. No the prayers of intercession should be alone
with Christ Jesus and let your mind open up with prayer and
supplication.
Pray for your brethren. Be an intercessor. Be an advocate. We
must humble ourselves and bow before the LORD in all things.
Intercessory prayer is not to order the LORD to do it now but
with tears and supplication let our prayers be asked. Never
forget to be thankful that we have an advocate that intercedes
for us.
How much truth does it take to go to heaven?
May GOD Richly and Abundantly Bless You All in the new year,

Watching the news lately has caused me to pay attention to a
statement that occurs repeatedly. In the USA, they say our
nation is divided down the middle. Then when speaking of other
nations the same thing is said they are divided down the middle.
The Prime Minister of Israel has had a massive stroke. The news
reports that no one can replace him. Then came this statement,
Israel is divided down the middle.
We know that the Bible says that a house or kingdom divided
against itself cannot stand. I wanted to look this verse up in
the Bible. I had no idea that it was said in so many places.
Christ Jesus said it repeatedly in the gospels. This is very sad
to hear the words divided down the middle. We hear this about
most every country.
This is the dividing line in [Matthew 12:30] “He that is not
with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me
scattereth abroad.”
Stay together in Christ and be careful of those that cause
division. There are so many issues besides politics that there
is division. So many little things can cause a big division.
Then the biggest divide of all comes where religion is
concerned. One day we will be set free with the truth. Pray that
day will come soon.

*The Guy In The Glass (From Lines To Live by)
If you get what you want in struggle for self;
And the world makes you king for a day;
Then go to the mirror and look at yourself,
And see what that guy has to say.
For it isn't your father, your mother, or wife,
Whose judgment on you must pass;
The fellow whose verdict counts most in your life,
Is the guy staring back from the glass.
He is the fellow to please, never mind all the rest,
For he is with you clear to the end;
You have passed your dangerous, difficult task,
If the guy in the glass is your friend.
You may be like Jack Horner and chisel a plum,
And you think you are a wonderful guy;
But the man in the glass says: "You're a bum,"
If you can't look him straight in the eye.
You may fool the whole world down the pathway of years
and get pats on your back as you pass;
But your final reward will be heartaches and tears,
If you have cheated the guy in the glass.
